Wooden Mass Kit

This durable wooden mass kit is great for toddlers, but still big enough for older children.

Wooden Catholic Mass Kit - includes a 4 1/2" chalice and ciborium with lid, a standing cross and a pall, a paten, several 1 1/2" inch wood "hosts", wooden candles with candle holders, two "cruets" (finials), and a small finger bowl. All of the wood parts are made of unfinished birch wood except for the cross made from unfinished pine. These are non-toxic with no chemicals or polyurethane used at all. The pictures show the Mass kit with a 4 and 7 year-old.

I created the very first wooden mass kits about 7 years ago and they're sure a big hit in my shop. I had the idea to make this set after we fell in love with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program at our parish. Kids connect with what they can hold and use and "work" with. I have 4 rough and tumble boys that are 1, 6, 8 and 12 years old and this set can be used by all of them. We actually have a real Mass kit that my husband bought for over $150 which is awesome, but we aren't able to let the boys use the set without watching them like a hawk. I scoured the internet and found the best pieces to pull together to make a mass kit that is a good scale for toddlers AND kids, durable, and beautiful. My husband is the Director of the Office of Divine Worship for our diocese and he helped make sure everything was just right. If you were to buy each piece individually and assemble them yourself, you'd likely end up paying more than I am offering here because I bought in bulk and saved in shipping. The piece I hope to improve upon is the pall. It actually is sturdy, but feels more flimsy in the hands than I'd like. So if you're a carpenter who will custom make that out of birch for me (for cheap), send me a message. :)
